The Army's ACC-APG organization and Naval Information Warfare Systems are the dominant buyers in this space, together accounting for over 29 billion dollars across more than 6,100 awards since 2001. Most procurement happens without set-asides, though small business set-asides represent a meaningful portion of activity. Buyers range from major commands like NIWC Atlantic to specialized centers like DCMA Space Enterprise. If you sell radio, television, or wireless communications equipment to the federal government, these organizations are your primary targets.

The median award of 19.4 thousand dollars tells you this market rewards both large prime contractors and smaller specialists. With 3,224 distinct vendors competing for 190,191 awards totaling 106.6 billion dollars, the market is active but crowded. The top three buyers alone account for over 35 billion dollars, suggesting that winning with ACC-APG, Naval Information Warfare Systems, or the Military Communications and PNT Sustainment Support Center offers the largest revenue opportunities. Smaller firms should note that roughly 28,000 awards carried small business set-asides, creating dedicated competition lanes.

Watch for 1,748 contracts expiring within the next 12 months, representing 5.75 billion dollars in potential recompete work. These represent your clearest near-term opportunities to capture existing work or displace current vendors. The 178 active notices indicate steady procurement activity. Position yourself now to bid on expiring contracts, particularly those held by smaller vendors or those managed by the top-spending organizations.
