Talk about the work where the work is
A pursuit is won by people who talk to each other every day: capture, the proposal manager, pricing and contracts. When those conversations live in email, the decision about a bid is in somebody's inbox and the file it was made from is on somebody's laptop. Messages keeps them on the account, beside the record they are about, with the files that go with them.
printed on every notice, never searchable until now
One to one, a group, or on a record
Messages is at the top of the menu, under Today, and the count of what you have not read sits beside the bell on every screen. A conversation is with one person, with a group you name, or on a record: a pursuit, a contract, an agreement or an organization in the CRM.
A conversation on a record starts from the record itself, with Discuss at the top of its page. Everybody on the account who may open that record may read it and join it, and nobody else may. A person who loses the record loses its conversation with it.
- Groups of up to fifty people
- A pursuit and its lifecycle record share one conversation, and so do a contract and its record
- Name somebody who may open the record and they are brought into its conversation
- Search every conversation you are in
not who usually wins here, who won this
Send a file, or one from your library
Up to ten files go with one message. A file from your computer is kept with the conversation, takes the same types and size limit as the document library, and counts against your plan's storage. A document already in your library is sent as a link to it, so nobody works from a second copy.
A file sent in a conversation is handed back only to the people who may read that conversation. It is never matched to the requirements of a solicitation, so a file shared with three people does not turn up for the whole account.
- The same file types as the library
- A file uploaded and never sent is removed after six hours
- Deleting the last message that carries a file removes the file

When somebody is away
While a conversation is open, new messages arrive within twenty seconds. Somebody who has not used the app for five minutes is sent an email instead, at most one an hour for each conversation, and each person can turn those emails off for themselves on the Messages screen. A conversation can be muted, and one that is finished can be archived and brought back.
The person who wrote a message can change it for fifteen minutes and delete it at any time. Today shows a block for what you have not read.
Who can read it
Only the people on the same account, ever. Nobody outside the account can be written to or added. A person with seats on two accounts sees the conversations of the account they are working in.
A viewer seat may write messages, because talking to the team is not changing the work. A seat that is removed from the account leaves its conversations, and what it wrote stays, shown as written by a former member. When an account is closed, its conversations and their files go with it.
Where it stops
Messages comes with every paid plan, between the seats on one account. It is not email and it is not a channel to the government: nothing said in a message is a contract action, and nothing in one changes a pursuit, a contract or an agreement. A decision made in a conversation still has to be recorded where it belongs, such as the bid decision on the pursuit.
