Everything on file, drawn as charts you can decide with
Insights draws the record as charts: every award back to FY2001, every notice on file with the closed and canceled ones, and the other federal records beside them. Each chart opens with one plain sentence that says what it shows. Ask a question in plain words, or filter any board by anything on file, and your own pipeline, wins and billing are drawn beside the market, on the same screen.
Seven boards, each with the question it answers
A board is a page of charts, each answering one question. The market charts are drawn for the NAICS codes you watch: change the codes for a visit and they follow.
Your market
Is my market growing, and who buys it? What is obligated each fiscal year, when in the year it is bought, who buys it, how it is set aside and competed, the contract types, where the work is and the size of awards.
Notices
What is posted in my codes, how is it set aside, and how long does it stay open? Every notice on file is counted, open, closed, canceled and awarded, by type, by office and by fiscal year.
What is coming
What comes up for award in my codes over the next two years? Contracts ending by quarter, how they were competed last time, who buys them, forecasts and sole-source contracts coming up for competition.
Who buys
Which agencies buy what I sell, and when? Departments and buying agencies over time, and one buying agency you pick, month by month, with its set-aside mix.
Other records
What do the other federal records show? SBIR and STTR awards, subawards to small businesses, grants, defense contract announcements, exclusions and lobbying.
Your business
How is your own work going: the pipeline, wins, billing and buying? The pipeline by stage and by month due, your win rate, proposals submitted and won, what you invoiced, cost against funding and purchases committed.
My charts
The charts you saved, and those shared with your account, pinned to the top and in the order you set.
Any question, drawn as a chart
Type a question in plain words, such as how much the Navy bought in your codes in Florida over the last five years, and Insights draws the chart. Every part of the question it read is shown as a chip you can change or take away, and any word it could not read is shown too, so you always see exactly what was asked.
Filter a whole board by anything on file: the agency, the buying office, the set-aside, the state, the codes, the company, the contract type, how it was competed, the size of the award, a dollar range or the dates. Press a bar, a slice or a state and the board is filtered by it, with Undo one press away.
- Headline figures at the top of each board, each with its change and its trend
- A filter that a chart cannot take is named on that chart, never applied in silence
- Your codes are counted first, so your charts show within minutes of opening Insights
- Charts you have seen draw at once, then update
the shape of the distribution, not a point on it
The whole record, closed notices included
Awards come from USAspending.gov, every fiscal year back to FY2001. Notices come from SAM.gov, and a notice is still counted after it closes, is canceled or is awarded, so a chart of what was posted reaches back as far as the record does.
The other records are charted from their own sources: contracts ending, subawards and grants from USAspending.gov, sole-source justifications and exclusions from SAM.gov, SBIR and STTR awards from SBIR.gov, the Department of War's daily contract announcements, the Senate's lobbying disclosures, decisions of the Court of Federal Claims, the FedRAMP Marketplace and the defense budget requests.
- Each chart says how current its figures are, and how many records stand behind them where they can be counted
- A period that is not over yet is marked as such and never compared
- Where there are too few records to say how something changed, the sentence says so
- Lobbying income that firms report and what organizations report spending on their own lobbying are shown apart, never added together
money not obligated by 30 September goes back, and nobody gets credit for handing it back
Closed notices are charted too
About 6.6 million notices that have closed are on file, posted from 1998 to 2026. Insights counts them with the open ones, by month, by type, by set-aside, by office and by fiscal year, beside every award back to FY2001.
Your own numbers, on the same screen
The Your business board draws the work your account keeps: the pipeline by stage and by month due, your win rate from the pursuits you marked won or lost, proposals, invoices, cost against funding on each contract and purchases. Make a chart reaches the rest of your work too, such as the hours on your timesheets and the touchpoints you log in Relationships.
Each figure is the one its own screen shows. A chart of your work shows what your role opens and nothing more, so two people on one account can each open Insights and see what each is allowed to see.
UEI, CAGE, then normalized name
Your question, drawn the way you ask it
Make a chart opens the builder. Choose what to measure, what to chart it by, what to split it by and what to narrow it to. For your codes, anything on file can be charted by anything else and filtered by anything. Across every code, the yearly totals answer, and Why is a choice not here? says what would make another choice appear.
The whole question is kept in the address, so a chart can be bookmarked and sent to a colleague, and Back works.
- Columns, stacked columns, a share of 100 percent, lines, horizontal bars and a donut
- Heat maps, share maps, and ranked bars with their trend
- Small multiples on one scale, so each panel can be read against the others
- The map, with the ten largest states named
- A table behind every chart, one click away
every state the same size, so DC is readable
Four ways to take a chart with you
Save to My charts
Keep a chart for yourself, or tick Share with your account and everyone on it can open it. A saved chart keeps its question, and is drawn again each time it is opened.

Who gets what, by plan
| Plan | What Insights charts |

| Shop, Pro, Capture and Enterprise | Every board and every chart, for every code, with the builder, saving and sharing with your account, as each person's role allows. Insights is on every paid plan. |
| One Code | The awards and notices of its one code, with the builder and the downloads. Every other chart is shown with its lock, and charts are not saved. |
| The live demo | The awards and notices of its one code, read only, with no account. Nothing you do in it is saved. |
