Defense Logistics Agency activities buy machined spares in high volume through automated solicitations, often as small business set-asides, often to the same handful of approved sources until someone new qualifies. Depots and warfare centers buy fixtures, tooling and repair parts in small lots. NASA centers buy ground support and test hardware. Prime contractors buy the rest and it never shows in the federal record as a federal award, which is why the supplier directory and the buyer profiles matter for teaming.
Use the size bands and the median before you quote. A shop that prices from its commercial book without looking at the history is usually either too high for the small buys or too low for the qualified ones.
