Codes to watch

Sheet metal, plate, structural, pipe, and the miscellaneous bucket

Sheet Metal Work (332322) covers enclosures, chassis, panels and ducts. Plate Work (332313) and Fabricated Structural Metal (332312) cover weldments, frames, platforms and stands. Fabricated Pipe and Fittings (332996) covers piping assemblies. All Other Miscellaneous Fabricated Metal (332999) catches a great deal of one-off work. Buyers also code fabricated items under the end item: aircraft parts, ship components, vehicle components.

  • Work-type tags find "weldment" and "enclosure" across every code
  • Place-of-performance filters find work that must be delivered nearby
  • Set-aside history tells you where a small fabricator has room

What the history tends to show

Base operations, ranges and depots buy fabricated structures, stands, racks and enclosures in small lots, often with drawings attached to the notice and often set aside. Shipyards and warfare centers buy plate work and piping to specification. Launch and range activities on the Space Coast buy ground support structures. Many notices are combined synopsis/solicitations with short deadlines, which is where daily alerts earn their keep.
