Most of this code's federal buying runs through a few offices. The Defense Logistics Agency's Troop Support unit has the most awards, listed as 1,159 awards worth $41.54M and 1,519 awards worth $12.35M. The listing shows it twice, and the notice does not say why. The Department of Justice's Federal Prison System has 2,927 awards worth $23.93M. Federal Prison Industries, Inc. has 630 awards worth $14.75M. DLA Land and Maritime and Defense Supply Center Philadelphia also appear in the top buyers. The notice does not say which items each office buys or how each one solicits, so a firm will need to check the individual notices for those details.

Award size and competition are the clearest signals in this data. The code shows 9,997 awards totaling $158.11M from FY2001 to FY2026, with a median award of $4.6K. That means most awards are small, and the total is spread across many purchases. Only 194 distinct vendors have won awards here over that period, which suggests a fairly small pool of repeat suppliers. Most awards carry no set-aside code (6,187), while 2,106 carry SBA, 214 carry 8A, and 1,466 have no value recorded. The notice also lists 17 with 8AN, 4 with SBP, 2 with SDVOSBC, and 1 with SDB. It does not define these codes, so a firm should confirm what each one means before deciding how it applies.

For the next year, the main number to watch is the 38 contracts worth $2.21M that end within 12 months. Those expiring contracts may be re-bid, which would give firms a chance to compete. There are also 4 active notices right now, which a firm can review directly. The notice does not say which of the expiring contracts will be re-competed, what the items are, or when the next solicitations will post. Firms that want to track this code should check the buyers listed above and the set-aside codes on each new notice.
